How The Executive Committee Works
The TBA Executive Committee meets once every 2 months. The day and time is set in consultation with the Executive Committee members.
The Agenda for the meeting is set 7 days before the meeting and all Executive Committee members are invited to attend.
Meetings are hosted and chaired by the Chairperson at a local place of business. The minutes of the previous meeting are read and accepted as a true record or amended if necessary. Reports on the TBA’s activities and projects are presented from the Chair, Co-ordinator, Treasurer and Magazine Sub-Committee.
Executive Committee members vote on the acceptance of these reports, discuss ways to improve the local business economy and any challenges, and decide on new activities or motions as proposed.

Current Projects
The TBA BID Programme / What is the TBA working on?
- Our principal service to the BID members and wider community is the publication of the long-standing free Torbay Magazine.
- The Torbay Magazine, and our Facebook, Instagram, and website seek to raise the profile of Waiake, Torbay, Long Bay and Okura as an attractive area to live, work and visit.
- The TBA support businesses with business networking events, skill development, and advocating for repairs and improvements to the Torbay shopping centre if required.
- The welfare and security of businesspeople and staff working within our BID area is an important focus. One of the TBA's objectives is to contribute to Torbay Village being a safe, vibrant and attractive town centre. For several years the TBA has paid for security patrols for Torbay Village.
- The TBA has been, and will continue to lobby for support to install CCTV security cameras for the Village. In lieu of funding to achieve this, the TBA has sought to beautify the Village with new signage and improvements to the Village Plaza area.
- The Torbay Village Plaza area was intended to be an event space, such as for markets. It is a pedestrian area. To protect pedestrians and children who walk through or play in the plaza, planter boxes have been installed to stop vans and trucks from driving up onto the plaza.
